[Analysis of the Formula]

According to “Discussions on Formulas in Classical Texts”: When a person’s true yin is abundant, water and fire are balanced, and there will be no fire-dominant diseases. If the true yin of the lungs and kidneys is insufficient, they cannot moisten the stomach, leading to dryness of stomach fluid. Once attacked by pathogenic fire, it spreads like a prairie fire, manifesting as symptoms similar to the White Tiger Decoction pattern. In this formula, prepared Rehmannia Glutinosa and Achyranthes Bidentata nourish kidney water, Ophiopogon Japonicus preserves lung metal, and Anemarrhena Asphodeloides benefits lung yin above and nourishes kidney yin below, capable of treating fire dominant in the Yangming channel. Gypsum Fibrosum, with its sweet and cold nature and heavy quality, enters the Yangming channel alone, clearing excess heat in the stomach. Although this is the principle, if stomach fire is raging, the use of prepared Rehmannia Glutinosa should be carefully considered. For deficiency fire patterns, it is better to use raw Rehmannia Glutinosa. The prescriber should use their wisdom to adapt and apply it flexibly.
