[Functions]
Tonify Qi and Spleen, raise sinking Qi, and control blood.
[Efficacy]
For bleeding, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis due to insufficient middle Jiao Qi and Qi sinking, leading to hematochezia, threatened miscarriage, and urinary incontinence. For women who have had many births or are in menopause, due to weakness, deficiency of Qi and blood, palpitations, shortness of breath, and limb weakness, this formula has the effect of tonifying Qi and raising sinking Qi. It is often used in conjunction with other herbs in clinical practice for better results.
[Indications]
Functional uterine bleeding, threatened miscarriage, urinary incontinence.
[Mnemonic]
(Tonify Qi and raise sinking Qi): Ginseng, Cimicifuga, Astragalus, Licorice, Atractylodes → Raise the flag and lift the white, the flag has dried.
[Additions and Subtractions]
(1) If accompanied by deficiency-cold of Yang Qi, add Cinnamon Twig, prepared Aconite, and Dried Ginger as indicated. (2) If accompanied by slippery and sinking, add Mume Fruit or Concha Veneris.
[Pharmacology]
It enhances the body’s stress resistance, boosts immune function, increases smooth muscle tension, and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
