【Formula Meaning】

From *Yi Fang* (Medical Formulas): It is a formula for the Foot Taiyin and Yangming channels. (1) Agastache, Cardamom, Apricot Kernel, and Magnolia Bark: Aromaticity can soothe the spleen, and acridity can promote qi circulation. (2) Cardamom and Magnolia Bark: Can also transform food stagnation. (3) Papaya: Sourness can calm the liver and relax the tendons. (4) Hyacinth Bean and Poria: Blandness can seep out dampness and clear heat. (5) Hyacinth Bean: Can also dispel summer heat and harmonize the spleen. (6) Pinellia: Acrid and warm, it disperses rebellious qi and stops vomiting. (7) Ginseng and Atractylodes: Sweet and warm, they tonify the upright qi to counteract evil. (8) Licorice Root: Tonifies the middle jiao and harmonizes all the herbs. (9) Ginger and Jujube: Disperse and regulate the ying and wei qi. All of the above are used to harmonize.

 【Functions】

Transforms dampness and harmonizes the middle jiao, boosts qi and strengthens the spleen, and dispels summer heat.

 【Indications】

Disharmony between the heart and spleen, qi failing to ascend and descend, cholera with muscle cramps, vomiting and diarrhea, alternating chills and fever, cough with phlegm and asthma, fullness and oppression in the chest and diaphragm, dizziness and headache, edema of the limbs, drowsiness and fatigue, dark and difficult urination. Also for typhoid fever with unclear yin and yang differentiation, oppressive heat due to summer heat, or dysentery, fullness in the middle jiao, thirst, aversion to food, and pre- and post-partum conditions in women. From *Yi Fang*: (1) Treats summer illnesses caused by improper diet, internal injury from raw and cold foods, external injury from summer heat, alternating chills and fever, cholera with vomiting and diarrhea. (2) Also treats oppressive heat due to retained summer heat, fatigue, drowsiness, thirst, dark urine, and alcohol intoxication.

Conditions such as heatstroke, indigestion, and colds.

 【Mnemonic】

Six-Harmony — Four Gentleman Decoction without Atractylodes + Moslae Drink + Shrimp with melon and ginger slices (Cardamom, Pinellia, melon, ginger).

 【Modifications】

From *Yi Fang*: (1) For summer heat: add Moslae Herba. (2) For cold damage: add Perilla leaf.
