【Formula Analysis】

(2) Because the interior syndrome is dry and hard, Rhubarb and Zhi Shi are used to attack the interior. (3) Paeonia nourishes the spleen and astringes Yin. (4) Scutellaria clears heat and relieves thirst. (5) Pinellia harmonizes the stomach and stops vomiting. (6) Ginger is pungent and dispersing, while jujube is sweet and moderating, to regulate Ying and Wei and promote body fluids. (7) This is a formula that treats both the exterior and interior, and is a moderate purgative. “Supplementary Deletions”: The Bupleurum syndrome is present, and there is also interior involvement, so the method of simultaneously resolving Shaoyang and the interior is established. <a href='https://whatsintcm.com/dt_articles/小柴胡湯/’>Xiao Chai Hu Tang with added Zhi Shi and Paeonia still resolves the exterior and harmonizes the interior. 【Modifications】
(1) For gallstones, add Lysimachia, Gigeriae Galli Endothelium Corneum, and Curcuma to dissolve stones and relieve depression. (2) For jaundice, add Artemisiae Scopariae Herba and Gardenia to clear heat, promote diuresis, and reduce jaundice. (3) For severe hypochondriac pain, add Meliae Toosendan Fructus and Corydalis to promote Qi, invigorate blood, and relieve pain.
