【Formula Explanation】
《Medical Formulas》: This formula targets the three Yin meridians of the foot. Yu Jiayan said: This formula uses a series of tonifying herbs such as Ren Shen (Ginseng) and Huang Qi (Astragalus), and the Si Wu Tang (Four Substance Decoction). It also includes Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root) and Qin Jiao (Gentiana Macrophylla Root) to dispel wind-dampness, Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark) to overcome cold, and Xi Xin (Asarum Root) and Du Huo (Angelica Pubescens Root) to unblock kidney Qi. This formula is suitable for Bi syndrome patients caused by the invasion of the three types of pathogenic Qi due to deficiency. Most formulas for wind Bi syndrome focus on dispelling wind, resolving dampness, and draining heat, but lack herbs that nourish blood, tonify Qi, and strengthen the foundation. However, this formula focuses on tonification and uses herbs to treat the three types of pathogenic Qi as supplementary. The dispersing herbs can exert their effects with the help of the tonifying herbs, and assisting the body to eliminate pathogenic factors is more likely to achieve results. Therefore, Yu took this formula.
