【Functions】

Warms the Kidneys and resolves Dampness, separates the clear from the turbid, warms the Lower Jiao.

【Therapeutic Effects】

Turbid urine (Baizhuo) due to Kidney Yang deficiency with damp-turbidity descending downwards, manifesting as frequent and excessive urination, white urine like rice water, cloudy and unclear, thick and pasty like ointment, dribbling urination with pricking pain, and other symptoms.nn“Yi Fang” (Medical Formulas): Turbid urine due to Yang deficiency, frequent urination, urine like white oil, known as Gaolin (lipoiduria).

【Pharmacology】

Possesses antibacterial, hemostatic, antipyretic, and analgesic effects.

【Clinical Applications】

Nephritis, chronic prostatitis, chyluria, frequent urination, cystitis, urethritis, renal tuberculosis with hematuria, turbid urine (Baizhuo), Gaolin (lipoiduria), etc.

【Contraindications】

Avoid spicy, raw, cold, greasy foods, tea, vinegar, and other irritating foods.

【Formula Explanation】

“Yi Fang”: A formula for the Hand Shao-Yin, Foot Shao-Yin, Foot Jue-Yin, and Yang-Ming channels. (1)Bi Xie: Drains damp-heat from Yangming and Jueyin channels, separating the clear from the turbid. (2)Wu Yao: Smoothes out perverse qi, expels cold, and warms the Kidneys. (3)Yi Zhi Ren: A Spleen herb, also enters the Heart and Kidneys, consolidates Kidney Qi and disperses stagnation. (4)Shi Chang Pu: Opens the nine orifices and unblocks the Heart. (5)Gan Cao Shao: Reaches the urethra/genitals and stops pain. (6)By expelling damp-heat and unblocking the Heart and Kidneys, Qi transformation flows, and turbid painful urination ceases. This formula achieves its effect by draining and venting.

【Modifications】

(1)If accompanied by Qi deficiency, add Si Jun Zi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) to strengthen the Spleen, tonify Qi, and promote diuresis.nn(2)If accompanied by cold-damp leukorrhea, add Fu Zi (Aconite Root), Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark), Tu Si Zi (Cuscuta Seed), Cang Zhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), and Fu Ling (Poria) to enhance the effects of warming the Kidneys and resolving dampness.nn(3)If accompanied by lower back pain and fatigue, add Ren Shen (Ginseng) and Lu Jiao Jiao (Deer Antler Gelatin) to tonify Kidney Qi.
