【Formula Explanation】

According to 《Han Dian》: Ren Shen (Ginseng), Bai Zhu (White Atractylodes Rhizome), Fu Ling (Poria), and Gan Cao (Licorice Root) strongly strengthen the stomach, increase appetite, and promote digestion and absorption. Dang Gui (Angelica Root), Bai Shao Yao (White Peony Root), Chuan Xiong (Sichuan Lovage Rhizome), and Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) tonify blood, strengthen the body and heart, treat anemia and dry skin, and improve blood circulation. Huang Qi (Astragalus Root) and Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig) further enhance these effects.

 【Functions】

Tonifies blood and Qi, warms and tonifies Qi and blood, lifts Yang and nourishes Yin, nourishes Qi and nurtures the spirit.

 【Indications】

General weakness due to chronic diseases, all kinds of deficiencies and damage, chronic disease deficiency, five over strains and seven damages, headache and dizziness, tinnitus and blurred vision, emaciation, poor appetite, sallow complexion, mental fatigue. Dual deficiency of Qi and blood, insufficiency of Qi and blood, consumptive cough and asthma, pale complexion, weak knees and legs, fatigue in the limbs, seminal emission, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis in women, irregular menstruation. Non-healing sores, pus formation without ulceration, ulceration without healing.

 【Applications】

Various post-illness conditions, or weakness due to chronic diseases, various anemia conditions, post-partum or post-operative weakness, various anemia conditions, various bleeding, loss of appetite, dry skin, kidney tuberculosis, bone tuberculosis, skin diseases in weak individuals, low-grade fever after prolonged illness, decreased vision. Adjuvant therapy for cancer and prevention, toxic side effects caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, leukopenia, chronic atrophic gastritis, gastroptosis.

 【Mnemonic】

(1) Ba Zhen Tang plus Huang Qi and Rou Gui (Cinnamon). (2) Si Wu Tang plus Si Jun Zi Tang, Huang Qi, Rou Gui, Sheng Jiang (Ginger), and Da Zao (Jujube).#

 【Modifications】

(1) Add Hou Po (Magnolia Bark), Cang Zhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), and Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark) in autumn and winter; add Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogon Root), Qing Pi (Green Tangerine Peel), Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root), Zhi Zi (Gardenia Fruit), and Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome) in spring and summer. (2) For diarrhea, add Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome) and Rou Guo (Nutmeg); (3) For thirst, add Mai Dong (Ophiopogon Root) and Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra Fruit); (4) For alternating chills and fever, use mashed Ma Ti Xiang (Lysimachia christinae Hance).

 【Pharmacology】

Enhances immunity, improves and promotes hematopoietic function, anti-radiation damage, anti-tumor, anti-aging, regulates central nervous system activity, improves body adaptability, promotes metabolism, strengthens the body, etc.
